Transmasculine Folx in the Spotlight

At times, it can be challenging to see ourselves reflected in different forms of media. Regrettably, transmasculine individuals are not as prominently represented as we wish. This is why I want to highlight some remarkable transmasculine individuals who have truly made an impact in their fields.

Patricio Manuel “Cacahuate”

American boxer who, in 2018, became the first transgender person to box professionally in the US. Patricio won his first fight by unanimous decision.

Chella Man

American actor, model, YouTuber, artist, activist. Author of Continuum. Known for their shared experience at the intersectionality of being trans, deaf, Asian, and Jewish.

American lawyer and transgender rights advocate. He is the Deputy Director for Transgender Justice and staff attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union. Also starred in the stark documentary The Fight.

Brian Michael Smith

American actor and LGBT advocate, started off his career on Queen Sugar. Known for playing Paul Strickland on 9-1-1: Lone Star, where he was the first black, openly trans man in a series regular role on network TV.

This American-born, prominent transgender rights activist, author, and educator is focused on policy work. Widely known for his book Becoming A Visible Man, which won the Sylvia Rivera award.
